Shopping for souvenirs in New York City: Fishs Eddy

If you're anything like me (and most people in the world, really), every time you travel to a new place, you NEED to bring home a souvenir. In New York, it's super easy to find all that cheesy stuff, it's all over town. But souvenirs that are a bit more original, sometimes are hard to find.

That's when shopping local gets even more fun! Not only you're helping the community you're visiting, but you also get products that are unique and get to experience a bit of the local culture and way of life.

So, here's a tip for super fun, cute and well priced souvenirs in New York City: Fishs Eddy. Fishs Eddy is right by the Flatiron Building (a must-see in NY, even if you're a seasoned traveler), making it an even more convenient place for a little shopping session. They have a ton of New York themed items, housewares, home decor,  wall art, gifts, books etc. so, even if you're not into the city-themed thing, you will definitely find something that suits you're taste there.

On my visit to the shop, I bought the water tower model (from Boundless Brooklyn) on the picture above. I remember, I was so impressed with the number of water towers I saw when I first visited NY, it stuck with me as an icon. I had fun putting my kit together and now it lives in one of my shelves.

So, there yo have it: a cool, local and fun place to get your souvenir next time you're in NYC. I think the point of this post is, not only to share a nice place to visit in the city I now live in, but also to make us think a little more about our behavior when we visit a new place- if you enjoy the city you're in, why not help the locals, right? :)
